
By train
Check train connections:
Use the VR website (vr.fi) or the VR Matkalla app to find a suitable train connection to Hanko. There are direct trains from Helsinki and Karjaa, but when traveling from other parts of Finland, a change is often necessary, for example in Karjaa.
Choose a departure station:
From Helsinki: Intercity trains run from Helsinki to Karjaa, where you change trains for the H-suburban train. The journey time is about 1.5–2 hours.
From the rest of Finland:
Look for a connection that goes via Karjaa, as trains to Hanko depart from there. For example, when traveling from Turku or Tampere, you usually change trains in Karjaa.
Buy a ticket:
Tickets can be purchased on the VR website, the app, ticket machines at stations or on the train (note: there is an additional charge when buying on the train). Book your ticket in advance, especially during high season (Hanka is popular in summer).
Travel to Hanko:
The train journey from Karjaa to Hanko takes about 30–40 minutes.
The trains are usually modern commuter trains with seats but no seat reservations. Enjoy the scenery – the route passes through beautiful coastal scenery!
Arriving at Hanko station:
Hanko is the terminal station, so get off at the last station.
The station is located close to the city center (about 500 m walk).
You can walk to the harbor or the city center in a few minutes, for example.
Taxis and buses are available near the station if you need a ride.
How to arrive
By Car
Address:

Hankonkylä is located near the center of Hanko, and the hotel is easily accessible by following the signs towards the Hanko city center.
When arriving in Hanko from the highway (E18), drive towards the city center and turn towards Hankonkylä. There is permitted roadside parking on Ankkurikatu, opposite the villa.
By bus
It is easy to travel by bus from Helsinki Bus Station (Kamppi) to Hanko, although direct connections are not always available. The journey usually takes about 2.5–3 hours, depending on the route and time. Buses mainly depart from Helsinki's Kamppi Bus Station, and the most popular operators are OnniBus and Matkahuolto. The journey often includes a change in, for example, Salo or Karjaa, but direct connections are also possible at certain times. Tickets can be purchased in advance online, and prices vary between about 10–25 euros, depending on the company and the time of booking.
Get off at Hanko Bus Station, which is about a 1.5 km walk from Villa Ankkuri. You can also take a taxi from the station, the journey takes about 5 minutes. There is a taxi rank at Hanko Bus Station, from which taxis are often available, especially during bus arrival times, but during quieter times it may be a good idea to order a taxi in advance, for example by calling Lähitaksi on 0100 7300 or using the Taksini app
By boat
The port of Hanko is known for its guest marina. If you arrive by your own boat, you can walk from the harbor to the hotel in about 20–25 minutes or use a taxi. Boat berths can be rented at the Hanko Guest Marina (Vierasvenesatama) and the Baltic Sea Gate (Itämerenportti).
